Something I LOVED and that has totally stuck out in my mind today was a quote from chapter seven.
"Having faith often means doing what others see as crazy.
Something is wrong when our lives make sense to the unbeliever."
I laugh thinking about several decisions Ethan and I have made over the past four years that to outsiders seemed crazy.
There is also a great chapter about what it looks like to be lukewarm in our faith. I don't think anyone can read through it without being deeply convicted by what God sees as "lukewarm."
As we pray through and ponder what it will take and what it will look like to raise a Godly young girl - this book has given me so much to think through. And it makes me realize how often we're going to appear crazy to others or even to Christians with different priorities.
Ethan really encouraged me last week as I struggled through understanding several situations with other believers. He pointed out that while we are all followers of Christ, that doesn't mean our priorities in life are always going to be the same. It's amazing how much that little piece of insight has helped me respond in love rather than frustration with people.
At the same time, I realize what we will be up against as we raise Claire ... thankfully, no one other than God can tell us how to raise our children.
