After dropping Darby off at Doggie Daycare/Boarding early Saturday morning, Ethan and I headed to Dallas for my cousin Amanda's wedding. (We found this great boarding place down the road from and the owners really love Darby - it's amazing how much we love and fuss over our pets.)
The road trip was great. That is something we miss about living in Austin - our road trips are fewer than they used to be. Not that either of us overly want to spend a weekend driving, but we really enjoy the conversation, stories, music and laughter that always accompanies a road trip. It's such a great time. We do prefer flying over driving any day, but it seems that flight conversations are often interrupted by luggage, checking gates and times, boarding, landing, etc.
The wedding was beautiful and we really enjoyed getting to see some family that we haven't seen in awhile. It flew by and before we knew it we were relaxing in our hotel room and sleeping in the next morning. Can't remember the last time we had the chance to sleep in together!
Sunday we took our time getting home, enjoying the drive. Ethan had never seen the JFK memorial so we went to check that out. It was different than I remembered it - and last time I was there I wasn't 9 months pregnant. I often find that I'm having to remind myself to take it easy and not try to do certain things because I'm so close to the end. So I spent some time waddling around part of downtown Dallas while Ethan took pictures.
Who can resist a fountain?? My feet and ankles were so swollen -
we just laugh at them all the time.

I'm shocked at candid photos of my belly. Where did this thing come from???
But like all Austinian's .... we couldn't wait to get out of Dallas and back to Austin! There really is just something about Austin that you hate to leave and can't wait to get back to.
I'm finding myself bummed out a bit lately since I'm missing out on some things I love to do this time of year. Schlitterbahn, kayaking town lake and floating the rivers being a couple of things I've been thinking about a lot lately. However, thankfully our pool has been my frequent place of comfort. Friday afternoon I spent over an hour and a half float on a raft in the pool and it was heaven. Another one of our pregnant friends takes advantage of the soothing weightlessness of the water - it's perfect!
Ethan is looking forward to me having my energy back and feeling more like myself again. Can't wait for that!
We got another stroller a week or so ago and Darby has taken a liking to it as well. It's a pretty sweet umbrella stroller with some cool features - we are pretty excited to use all these gadgets with Claire.
Ethan got a new haircut a few weeks ago thanks to our friend Laura. We love it but it's a big change from the shaggy haircut he's kept this past year. Of course, Ethan couldn't settle for a boring haircut so it's pretty long on top and in the back and then really short on the sides. He looks great and totally pulls it off. We are a family who loves change so who knows where our hair ventures will take us next ...
