We learned that I'm 1 cm dilated, she's head down and I'm 50% effaced! Our doctor doesn't think Claire will wait until July 9th to make her appearance but she thinks we've got a couple of weeks! Crazy! We are praying really hard that she isn't born on the 4th of July ... my Dad and I are thinking July 1st or 2nd would be a good day for a birthday! :)
Ethan was concerned to see that I haven't gained any weight the last three weeks - he jokingly accuses me of starving his baby. (I on the other hand think it's a miracle that I can eat ice cream and not gain any weight!) I'm eating for sure - but I've explained to him that it's just because my stomach is squished and I'm not very hungry at this point. The doctor confirmed my argument and reassured him that the food I'm eating is going straight to Claire - so I think he's going to stop shoving food down my throat. :)
Our nurse asked me if I had been going in to the baby's room, folding and refolding her clothes and blankets. Ethan laughed and said "Is that normal?" - because I go into her room every day and just to look around, or organize or something. I think he's getting a big kick of my nesting habits.
My friend who is "next in the baby line" is being induced next week and then we're up! It's crazy how as the babies have started arriving we are realizing how close we are getting ... the "baby dust" officially settles around Christmas.
Ethan and I have been enjoying our porch evenings again this week - it's so nice to sit outside and talk for an hour or so without any distractions. We are going to make extra effort to keep that up after Claire's arrival ...
I've had a really insane week of work due to Wakeboard Camp starting on Sunday night. Once we get through camp (the temperature is going to be in the triple digits all next week) things should slow down just enough for me to train a couple of people to take over for me while I'm out on leave.
I was a little concerned this afternoon that Claire was coming this weekend - stress induced. However, after working late again tonight I headed straight to get a pedicure! My feet were so swollen I felt sorry for the lady (who was so sweet and massaged my legs and feet FOREVER) but I knew after this week a pedicure was the only thing that would get me to sit still and relax for an hour. It was perfect.
Ethan is exhausted as well and asked me to pick up a movie on my way home tonight so we can relax and veg a little bit this evening ... so looking forward to that ...
