I forgot how much I enjoy listening to Ethan play the guitar and sing. The patio door is open with a nice breeze and the puppies are playing. I'm playing around with some ideas for the baby nursery (I found out we can paint!). peace.
I thoroughly enjoy life without television. I believe it is fuller and richer and real. I am amazed at how having the TV for hours on end can begin to distort reality. It causes us to view the world differently and robs us of opportunity to connect with friends and family.
Over the holidays, I had some extended family members gasp when I mentioned that Ethan and I weren't going to raise kids who watch a lot of TV. I think the words exactly were, "You're kids are going to be so weird!"
It was really funny, and shocking at the same time. But I guess so .... I'm all about our kids being the "weird" kids if that means they are the kids who play outside, who spend time on the lake, around Austin hiking, biking, kayaking and enjoy living in a city immersed in music. Kids who go on vacation. Who connect with other kids and whose parents play with them. Who love God and others with their whole being. Who make friends easily, enjoy change, travel, read, explore their creative side and serve others.
Alright then, it's settled ... long live the "weird" kids ... :)
