Our appointment to find out the sex is February 19th which feels like ages away. I'm really pumped to paint the nursery and start working on some of the artsy things I have in mind. However, all that hinges on the big question of boy or girl? I'm finding a lot of great things and cool ideas. Since we are so non-traditional in our baby taste, it's been fantastic to find that the market completely caters to the parents in our age group and we aren't forced to cringe and accept pink, blue or Winnie the Pooh as our only options for a nursery.
I'm also getting my first round of screening done in two weeks which is for down-syndrome and something else bone related. Ethan seems a bit worried, especially after the doctor told us there are a lot of false positive. It seems that a bit of anxiety has crept in the past couple of weeks as we really process the idea that we are going to be parents for the rest of our lives. I'm so thankful we have so many first-time pregnant friends right now or I don't know what we'd do! However, despite all the normal anxiety of being a new parent, I'm so thrilled for all the new life and see this as an amazing opportunity for God to continue to grow his Kingdom.
I'm still in nesting mode. I bought a computer armoire off craiglist last week so we could get rid of the computer desk and make more room in the dining area. It seems that no matter how neat you are, the computer desk always look messy and it was driving me crazy. Thankfully, we now have doors that close and keep all things computer and office related hidden.
Since we are clear of the first trimester, I can start working out again! We took a couple of long walks in the Travis Country trail over the weekend and it felt amazing!
Things are starting to get busy again for us and we have several visitors coming to see us over the next 4 months.
We are trying to figure out what we'd like to do for our "babymoon" in March. It's really important that we try and take some sort of vacation together before things get too crazy. It's been funny to talk through these things with Ethan. We had different vacation experiences growing up and are learning what vacation will look like to our family. As much as seeing relatives is important, it is equally as important for our family to get away, experience something new and make memories together. Which, being in Texas makes things a little tricky, but all in all I just want to give our children many of the same opportunities my parents gave me. Whether it was Florida, a theme park or just camping and boating for a week together I couldn't wait for our family vacation every summer.
After baby, it will probably be a year before we take off for our first family vacation. Mom and Dad took me to Florida when I was one ... I'd love to take off for Destin next summer.
Probably should get back to things. I'm getting my hair done tonight and am super excited!
