The following weekend, the Heinrich family came to visit for three days! It was so special and perfect in every way. (they are one of the Australian families I stayed with while in Australia in 2003). The kids have grown up so much and enjoyed spending time with them and watching them adapt to American food. We took them to Rudy's BBQ and they loved it, we also went to the trail of lights in Austin which was alright, a bit of a walk and not quite what Ethan and I were expecting. We really enjoyed catching up and laughing with them We were SO sad to see them go as the continued on their amazing holiday across the U.S.
The rest of December is a blur of Christmas parties, shopping, making candy and planning. I came down with the flu right before the Heinrich's came to visit. It just turned into a cold that hung on for a couple of weeks - ridiculous.
Pregnancy wise, I had been feeling a little better. Not quite as picky and sick to my stomach. I'm suffering from "baby brain" full force. I'm extremely forgetful, clumsy and can hardly multitask at all. It's been pretty funny watching Ethan pick up things I forget and take care of me. It's like I've turned into a 5 year old. :)
I stopped gaining weight thankfully which is probably short lived. Since the miscarriage I was gaining a pound a week and we couldn't figure out what was going on. I should be able to start working out again soon pending doctor approval. Since losing the baby and then getting pregnant again I haven't been allowed to work out. I had another appointment on the 16th and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was neat, but I prefer pictures. :) I have another appointment on the 14th and will be almost 15 weeks at that point. I'm hoping they go ahead and tell us the sex so we can start making decisions with furniture and wall decor. Ethan and I aren't really into traditional baby colors and themes so we are excited for a modern/eclectic nursery.
Christmas was very abnormal for us this year. Since Ethan started at Apple in November, he got stuck working Christmas Eve and Day. It was a bummer but shouldn't happen again. He's being compensated tremendously well for working holidays and they are paying him a huge overtime sum for every day worked the 24th through the 2nd. Crazy. The extra income will be nice to pay off a couple of things but money isn't really ever worth much to us when missing out on time together or family time. We had a great Christmas Eve service at church and then had our Christmas gift time. On Christmas day/eve we went to the Ellsworth's home and had dinner with their family and played Wii for a bit.

My parents got us a video camera which will come in handy very soon! We also bought a digital SLR camera as our "family gift" this year and we are pretty pumped about having some cool baby pictures in the near future.
I flew to Little Rock the day after Christmas and spent 5 days with family there. It was nice to see everyone but I wasn't feeling very well most of the stay. I was pretty exhausted and didn't have much of an appetite. Never in my life have I suffered from motion sickness (outside of reading in the car) but for some reason I got sick on the plane and in the car while in Arkansas - also ridiculous. Hope that is pregnancy related and will go away afterwards. It was a good trip. We are racking up the frequent flyer miles lately.
I was very excited to come home to Ethan. We didn't realize how long 5 days really is. He was dying for me to get home and I had a clean home and a super sweet husband to come home to. He got of early to surprise me, cleaned the house and made dinner. So wonderful.
Since coming home, I've come down with Cedar Fever. yuck. All the Cedar tree's in Austin turn yellow on the tips of the branches due to pollen. I've never suffered from allergies before but apparently am allergic to cedar pollen. I'm slightly miserable and stuffed up and trying every natural remedy I can find. Although we are extremely happy and enjoying life right now ... I feel like I've been sick since September. I'm ready to feel like a complete person again.
Last night we went to see Valkyrie and then headed to the Greer's for the New Years party. We had a good time getting to see everyone and meet some new people.
For now, we are enjoying new years day! We went to lunch (only after drive back to the Greer's house to get my purse that I left on the couch last night) and made our new years resolutions. We've got another pretty exciting year ahead of us!
