Day past due day update ...

July 10th and Claire is staying put! She's out of room and I can't imagine that she's comfortable but she must love to snuggle like we do.

Ethan has picked a middle name ... stay tuned! (However I had a dream the other night he named her Claire Grasp and I was so mad him). No idea where "Grasp" came from but I've always been a creative dreamer ...

It's been a good week and I've been taking it easy. Of course for me "taking it easy" means: working 24 hours from home this week, running errands, last minute shopping, lunches with Ethan, sno cones, hanging out with a couple of girlfriends and working on my tan in the pool ... (which is coming a long quite nicely for someone with such fair skin!)

Nine months pregnant and I still can't sit still for more than 20 minutes, but thankfully I've had the most amazing burst of energy! All the normal pre-labor symptoms are in full swing and last night we Ethan was excitedly timing my contractions with the stopwatch on his phone. It was adorable. Despite our continued optimism through the pregnancy, we aren't surprised that she hasn't emerged quite yet. I was 18 days late and most of our friends thus far have gone at least a couple of days past her due date. We could have induced this week, but we wanted to give her a couple of extra days to come on her own.

It's been around 103/104 every day this week, but surprisingly it really doesn't feel that hot. We've really adapted well to the Texas heat but I think it's because we love the heat. Thankfully, maxi dresses are in this summer and I've picked up a few of those to help keep me cool.

My parents are driving in tomorrow evening for all the big baby festivities. We are excited to get to see them and do some swimming and grilling before baby day. It will be nice to have them here so that they can help take care of Darby and such. The hospital is 3 miles and only a 5 minute drive from our place - we couldn't ask for a better situation. The facilities are also really new and very quiet. Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield. :)

Ethan is looking forward to having some time off with Claire. His year anniversary at Apple is in October- which is a bummer. Apple operates under California law and had Claire come after his year anniversary he would have received 2 weeks paternity leave. Thankfully, he gets 6 "kin care" days and still has a few vacation days left but we aren't wanting to use all of those up just yet! Just another reason to love Apple.

I'm not sure that Claire is going to make her appearance before Monday. We are going in Monday night to "get things rolling" so just a couple more days before we meet our perfect baby girl.

I decided yesterday at Target that she is going to have hair. She might not ... but just to be on the safe side I had to get some clips and bows. Per some of my baby pictures my Mom has posted recently ... better safe than sorry. :)

Darby loves Claire's room ....

Claire's newborn - 6 month side of closet. :) Very excited about putting her in these adorable outfits!

Bags have been packed for a couple of weeks now ...

I love this paisley ottoman ....

Couldn't resist the vintage light switch cover for our little Texan ...

The unfinished nursery wall. Ethan has got to get a guy to help him move the mattress out to the garage so I can finish hanging some art work.
